Awesomestories.com is a really nice website with tons of applications (IMHO) for puplic libraries.

If you look down the right hand side of the page you will see I have added a icon that you can click which will take you directly to the site. When you are at the site scroll down until you see the login on the left hand side for academic members (that be us!). Click the yellow sign up now block and enter your information. Make sure and put Garfield County Public Library System under Organization name. They will then recognize that I have already set us up and they will give each branch their own login.

Since we are a public library in Colorado we get use of this website for free and the membership extends to students, or individuals, physically studying or learning in your library.

I used it recently to review the information on Mary Queen of Scots because I had just finished helping my daughter obtain materials and websites from the library for a paper she had to write. This would have been an excellent resource and much better than the other websites that we used. The reason why is because of all of the links. There are links to pictures and additional websites that really fill out the story.

I can’t say enough about how much I like this website and when you get a group of students in your library that have to write papers I think this will be an excellent tool for many topics.

Squash Chart - Click Here!
This is an excellent chart from the health.com website. I never know what to do with squash so I rarely buy it. This not only shows pictures so you know which squash to use, but has tips for easy ways to prepare it.

Music fans (and yes, not just country music fans) will tell you that Cash’s Folsom Prison album is still considered by many to be one of the greatest live albums ever recorded. In the previews of the movie, we see the scene in which Cash, about to perform at Folsom, is asked by a prison official to “refrain from playing any songs that will remind the inmates that they’re in prison.” An utterly cool Cash replies, “You think they forgot?” Johnny Cash at Folsom Prison: The Making of a Masterpiece (Da Capo, $15.95, 0306814536) is a riveting account of that day and the story that surrounds it.
