Healthlinelogo
http://www.healthline.com/
From their website: Search The Web’s Best Health Sites. 62,000 web sites with between 45-50 million pages.

Healthline is the fastest and easiest way to find, understand and manage information about consumer health. Our mission is to empower health information seekers by providing them with an innovative and unique guided search experience - one based on trust, comprehensiveness, contextual relevancy, personalization, and interactivity.

Unlike general purpose search engines, Healthline only searches the top health sites on the Web, so users receive precise and relevant health information without having to sift through pages of unnecessary and unrelated results. Healthline’s search technology comprehends the words and phrases used in both the medical and non-medical worlds - for example, a search for “brittle bone disease” will also return results for “Osteogenesis Imperfecta”, its medical equivalent.

I spent some time reviewing this site (it is free to join), and I was impressed.

Thanks to Ann and Janine who spent a great deal of time on Friday helping me with an evaluation of their collection for an assignment.

This month the branch manager’s received the board package in a PDF file. There are many advantages to the PDF file such as:

* The user can pick and choose what to print.

* The print quality is MUCH better than what comes off of the copy machine so the reader can actually see the pictures, etc. Also the pictures are in color.

* The document can be forwarded to anyone else who may be interested in seeing it - which only takes a second versus re-copying it.

* There is no postage, copying or supply costs (paper, envelopes, etc.)

* Pages that may be difficult to read in print can be enlarged on screen to a size that is easy for the reader to decifer.

So if any employee is interested in having their own PDF copy to read/review please let me know and I will forward the file to you via e-mail.

The new lighting for the New Castle Branch is almost complete (see pictures below). Soon each of your libraries will be getting it’s lighting renovation - I’ll let you know when I get the schedule. It looks like New Castle will not have to close any additional hours to the public during this renovation. Much gratitude to Flattops Electric who again has done an excellent job for the library system.
