I am going to go off topic (Libraries) for awhile and use the Library Lounge as my journal of my experience with the HCG diet.

After dieting for most of my life (started at about age 12) and being overweight most of my life, I know that most diets don’t work. I have gained and lost 100’s of pounds over the years. I have pretty much tried every fad diet out there and have had the most success with Health Management Resources (which is not a fad diet). I have used HMR through our local hospital and have lost, and kept off about 30 pounds. I like the HMR program but it is hard work and it is slow and sometimes I get frustrated and how hard I work at losing weight - only to see the scale go down 1/2 lb. a week or sometimes less. HMR has taught me lots of good habits such as adding fruits and veggies to my diet and exercising every day. In fact, if the HCG diet works (please, please, please), I plan on returning to HMR for the maintenance program to keep the weight off and stay on track.

One of my best friends and co-workers introduced me to the HCG diet. Rebecca and I have tried a number of diets together and have the same dismal results. I have to say I was skeptical but I have had the opportunity to watch the program in action and see Rebecca drop 30 lbs. in less than a month. And what is even more amazing is that she is losing it in all the right places, not in her face but in her legs and upper arms. She has mostly been in a good mood and is so exhilarated about the weight loss and seeing results so quickly.

Here is the link to the book that explains the protocol. Dr. Simeons Book on HCG

So today is day 1 and although I am not going to post my weight here (too embarrassing), I will post my weight loss and my experiences with hunger, energy, mood, etc. Wish me luck!

“We must be aware of the real problems of the world. Then, with mindfulness, we will know what to do and what not to do to be of help. If we maintain awareness of our breathing and continue to practice smiling, even in difficult situations, any people, animals, and plants will benefit from our way of doing things. Are you massaging our Mother Earth every time your foot touches her? Are you planting seeds of joy and peace? I try to do exactly that with every step, and I know that our Mother Earth is most appreciative. Peace is every step. Shall we continue our journey?”
Thich Nhat Hanh - Peace is Every Step

Some days I feel overwhelmed with the direction humans are taking and the devastation we are wreaking upon this Planet and each other - but then I read things like this and think that it is possible to go on…

“Inevitably, not everyone will agree that libraries are valuable. Some people think that libraries are obsolete. Some people also think the world is flat. Do not let them derail your mission. We are doing righteous work. Keep preaching the gospel. Libraries are critical community resources. Libraries need adequate funding.”
